Available Positions

Purchasing Manager

Firehawk Aerospace, a propulsion-focused aerospace and defense company based in the Dallas, TX area, is undergoing expansion and is seeking a Purchasing Manager. The Purchasing Manager will play a vital role in managing our procurement activities and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services needed for our aerospace operations. This individual will be responsible for establishing an effective procurement process flow, evaluating suppliers, negotiating contracts, monitoring inventory levels, and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a sustainable procurement process to support a growing engineering organization.
  • Manage the supplier relationship and improvement activities.
  • Manage a group of suppliers from PO placement through order delivery, approve payments and negotiates prices.
  • Liaise with various departments within the company to ensure all appropriate purchasing needs are met.
  • Prepare purchase orders and negotiates prices to ensure the procurement process goes smoothly.
  • Carry out Procurement processes, standards, and operational plans, including RFPs, negotiation preparations, and cost analysis.
  • Evaluate forward looking for trends, supplier risks, drop in demands, using procurement tools.
  • Review critical shortages with the Planner and stakeholders. Work with suppliers to improve deliveries and close gaps.
  • Other projects assigned and directed by Leadership.
  • Adhere to all relevant policies, regulations, and ethical standards related to procurement activities.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, changes in regulations, and best practices in procurement.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Aerospace & Defense experience preferred.
  • Relevant experience working hand in hand with a fast past engineering team focused on development.
  • Proven experience as a Purchasing Analyst or in a similar procurement role.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes, contract negotiation, and supplier management.
  • Experience identifying and implementing new purchasing software systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Support development, design, and production of propulsion hardware

Firehawk Aerospace is a propulsion-focused aerospace and defense company based in the Dallas, TX area.  Firehawk is seeking an Integration Engineer II, whose primary responsibilities would include oversight of enterprise-level integration processes - ensuring that requirements are communicated between systems and all production targets are met.  Job duties would include creation of work orders, monitoring inventory levels, ensuring product quality, and implementing process improvements. The role will require a well-rounded engineer capable of managing parts, systems, and projects as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Creation, review and approval of work orders and instructions
  • Work closely with technicians and responsible engineers to ensure products meet quality guidelines and schedules are kept
  • Ensure inventories for all required builds is on hand
  • Collaborate with responsible parties to resolve technical issues that arise
  • Perform root cause analyses and pursue corrective actions
  • Continue improvements on workflow and process optimization
  • Follow products from the development cycle to the production cycle
  • Interpret engineering drawings and provide feedback to improve designs

Basic Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, and test flight hardware.
  • Hands on operations with both large and small fragile assemblies.
  • Use precision calibrated tools – torque wrenches, micrometers and calipers.
  • Perform work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
  • Fabrication, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of fluid system panels and tubing
  • Take part in hazardous testing operations
  • Perform system level troubleshooting and maintenance of test stand equipment and hardware
  • Ensure that all engine test stand related equipment and services are performed safe and timely manner
  • Disassemble and precision cleaning of valves, regulators, and other components
  • Frequent on-site work at West Texas Test Sites

 

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 1+ years experience with hands on work in the aerospace or related field
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs unassisted
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods

Firehawk Aerospace, a propulsion-focused aerospace and defense company based in the DFW area, is rapidly growing and is seeking an Accounting Manager. The right candidate will take ownership of the daily operations of Firehawk’s accounting department. This individual will be working closely with the CFO. The role will be ever changing and will require the candidate to be flexible and open-minded, while being detail oriented and capable of helping create account processes for a fast-growing company.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement GAAP compliant accounting procedures and processes to enhance the productivity, efficiency and workflow of the accounting department
  • Manage month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing activities
  • Preparation and presentation of accurate, relevant and timely financial reporting packages for executive team and Board of Directors
  • Work directly with CFO to forecast revenues and expenses for the business
  • Stay informed on bookkeeping, tax filing, HR standards and other related government regulations and developing and documenting policies and procedures
  • Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable functions and maintaining records of vendor relations and statuses
  • Compute and process monthly accruals and all transactions related to the general ledger

  • Ability to prepare statistical reports, perform three statement financial modeling, analyze financial reports and make recommendations based on analysis and research

  • Ability to describe accounting systems and processes in written correspondence and in procedure manual format

Responsibilities:
 

  • Provide technical and analytical support for propulsion products from preliminary design phase through detailed design, testing & validation, production, and operations. 
  • Determine and perform required structural analyses of complex aerospace components including static, dynamic, thermal (steady state & transient), fatigue/fracture, and tolerance throughout engine design lifecycle.  
  • Validate design model predictions using a hands-on approach and informed collaborative work across the engineering department.  Aid teams in meeting technical, mass, performance, and cost targets. 
  • Provide documentation of analysis results and recommendations in the form of formal reports and presentations for management and customers. 
  • Assist in analyzing testing data to validate/improve system models for thermal and dynamic performance and behavior.  
  • Provide manufacturing and assembly input to design team to aid in work order and specification development.

  • 4+ years of professional experience in computer-aided analysis including structural and thermal analysis  
  • Experience and proficiency using commercially available software such as ANSYS (preferred), Nastran, Abaqus, or similar software 
  • Experience with CAD software such as Creo (preferred), SolidWorks, CATIA, NX or similar software 
  • Experience with setup, execution, and post-processing using commercially available FEA programs (geometry, defeaturing, mesh generation, and model selection)  
  • Strong background in statics, mechanics of materials, heat transfer, durability, fracture mechanics, and dynamics  
  • Ability to perform hand-calculated analysis to validate and improve confidence in higher fidelity models 
  • General system-level knowledge of aerospace propulsion and testing hardware 
  • General understanding of manufacturing processes (welding, machining, heat treating) 


Preferred Qualifications:
 

  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or closely related field 
  • 6+ years of FEA experience related to aerospace component and system qualification 
  • 2+ years of professional experience using ANSYS structural 
  • Familiarity with fluids, boundary interactions, CFD 
  • Familiarity with Windchill (preferred) or Teamcenter 
  • Ability to work independently to debug simulations and programs 
  • Experience in Python, Unix, Matlab, FORTRAN, C++ or similar programming languages

Flight/Test Systems Engineer III

Firehawk Aerospace is a propulsion-focused aerospace and defense company based in the Dallas, TX area.  Firehawk is seeking a Flight/Test Systems Engineer III, whose primary responsibilities center around the development of avionics and control systems for robust flight platforms. This includes specification definition, design, development, verification, validation, implementation, and continued support of small rocket vehicle systems. This position involves travel, and the successful candidate may be required to travel up to 20% of the time for mission support.

Responsibilities 

  • Design and develop instrumentation, control, and telemetry systems for flight demonstrator vehicles 
  • Establish, document, and maintain streamlined mission-critical software 
  • Coordinate with responsible parties to define system, test, and data requirements, and establish criteria for verification 
  • Contribute to the development of test/flight readiness, and data reviews  
  • Fulfill discipline-specific console operation for test and flight missions

We are seeking a responsible staff Research Assistant to join our team.  Applicants will work under the general supervision of the research director and provide technical support for research and development projects. As required for a given project, applicants will provide support according to established procedures and work alongside research/engineering personnel to develop procedures/protocols for new processes. 

The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in chemical and mechanical laboratory environments and have a strong commitment to accuracy, ensuring the extraction of reliable and valid results. They will also be capable of operating independently (under the general guidance of the research coordinator and other technical staff) while practicing good judgement and maintaining communication with supervising personnel. Additionally, they will be capable of adapting to the needs of a dynamic R&D environment to provide support for a variety of development projects. 

The candidate will be responsible for following established procedures, maintaining detailed records, and helping to maintain a safe working environment. 

Responsibilities 

  • Perform laboratory testing and processes under the direction of research personnel 
  • Provide technical support to research and engineering personnel 
  • Collaborate with supervising personnel to identify potential improvements to processes/procedures 
  • Maintain accurate records of performed processes and test conditions 
  • Help maintain R&D tools, equipment, and work areas to promote a clean, safe working environment 
  • Perform tasks supporting the production of materials/samples/hardware for various research and development efforts 
  • Operate independently while maintaining communication with supervising personnel 
  • Practice good time-management skills to ensure assigned tasks are completed in a timely manner 

Basic Qualifications 

  • U.S. Citizenship  
  • AS degree in relevant discipline (or a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience with a HS degree or equivalent) 
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Ability to accurately follow established processes and procedures 
  • MS Office skills 
  • Good communication skills 
  • Capable of lifting and carrying items weighing up to forty pounds on a regular basis 
  • Ability to stand in place and/or walk for extended periods 
  • Hands-on experience in a relevant technical environment 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic research and development environment 

Preferred/Desired Qualifications 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline 
  • Prior lab and/or research and development experience 
  • Basic understanding of the fundamentals of propulsion (particularly rocket-based propulsion) 
  • Functional understanding of and/or experience with CREO, Solidworks, or other CAD software packages 
  • Technical writing experience 
  • Basic understanding of the fundamentals of additive manufacturing 

ITAR Requirements: 

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements: 

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 40 pounds; may require minimal walking, standing for extended amounts of time, climbing, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
